One of our holiday rental homes in Sant Feliu de Guixols will be a great base for exploring a little further afield – then return to comfort and homeliness

These are our current favourites a little further afield…

La Galera in Palamos

La Galera is another favourite fish restaurant

Galera is Catalan for Galleon...

It has a very boaty interior...

...with this lovely sail in the interior

They will tell you what they have got, so do some homework first!

These are "sonsos" or whitebait

Escamarlans are crayfish - simple and very fresh

And this is Turbot "turbo" done on the grill...

...so very easy to get off the bone.

Palamos is worth a visit in its own right

These photos were taken in November and it's still beautiful

You can have a great promenade after lunch or dinner

And they have guided tours of the fishing museum

L’Aliança in Anglés

L'Alianca is in a village called Angles about 45 minutes from Sant Feliu and our vacation rentals

If you like undiscovered gems, this is one!

This is a beautiful starter of baby vegetables

Or you could have the scallops

And to follow, maybe some belly pork in a chocolate sauce

Or delicious turbot

Oops! We got so carried away with pud that we forgot the photo!

Can Narra in Llança

Can Narra is in the beautiful port of Llança - a day trip from our vacation rentals in Sant Feliu de Guixols, but worth it!

It is a large, airy, family-run restaurant

start with a few local anchovies - NOT hairy or too salty!

Chipirons or baby squid are a firm favourite

Or perhaps some sepia a la plancha - cuttlefish done on the grill

But their piece de resistance is their Suquet - Catalan fish stew

Fish, garlic (lots of it) and potato, yum!

Have a walk round Llança...
