This will be the centre of your holiday in Sant Feliu de Guixols…
This page concentrates on all of the fab things to do on and around the first beach in Sant Feliu de Guixols. To read about Sant Feliu de Guixols’ second beach at Platja Sant Pol, click here.
Just for orientation, if you stand with the beach on your right you will see on your left the Passeig de Mar with restaurants, bars, ice cream parlours etc. And there are also entertainments put on there (music, processions etc). Finally, the Passeig is the location of the extension to the market on Sundays, selling just about everything.
On the other side of the Passeig, one street in, you have all of the shops you could wish for. At the top (where you start) there is the market square and the indoor fish market. Further along you have the main street, “the Rambla”, location of the best Catalan ice cream shop, Jijonenca (top right) and wonderful bars, restaurants and shops. Anyway, back to the sea front…
We recommend you get up a bit early one morning and stroll along at about 08.30 to 09.00 (you can take the opportunity to visit the daily market too). This will give you a great opportunity to understand the best times to get involved in some of the activities on offer.
Please note! There is more than one port area in Sant Feliu de Guixols. There is what we call “The Marina” which is the first place you come to at the end of the sandy beach with small boats moored there. There is a restaurant there called Sa Marinada in a building referred to as Club Nautic – where you go to get permits to take boat outs etc etc.
Then we have what we call the Fishing Port which is not only where the fishermen dock their boats. It is also an an area being developed for even more water sports, boat trips etc. here you will also find a restaurant called…wait for it…Club Nautic! This is the new Club Nautic but there are indeed two.
But if you follow these pictures, you should get there in the end.
But we haven’t finished yet! We still have to go into the Marina/leisure port…
Just near the entrance to the Marina you will see some gardens set on a hill (Jardins Juli Garreta). Go up there (perfect in the evenings) for fine views across the bay and the whole port area. There is also a Sea Rescue Museum there.
And now the Fishing Port…Yes, it’s different from the Marina! To get there you go past the Marina and the El Corsari bar/restaurant (on the other side of the road) and straight along as far as you can go…
Beyond this area you can walk right along the breakwater to admire the Marina for even grander boats.
